BEST SHORT FILM – dcff 2017

Claudia decides to investigate her grandmother’s past, who recently passed away. Through a letter, she comes to Marlene, an old German lady who lives in Brazil and keeps her memories inside a pool without water. During the visit, the old lady reveals details of her life that intersect with Claudia’s grandmother’s past, a German fugitive of the 2nd World War.

Director Biography – Leandro Goddinho

Leandro Goddinho is a Brazilian filmmaker based in Berlin. After studying Cinema and Theatre in Brazil he has directed 7 short films, 2 medium-length films, and 2 video clips, totaling more than 70 awards in Film Festivals in Brazil and abroad, operating in the audio-visual industry as a director, screenwriter and picture editor.

On TV, he worked as image editor and assistant director for the MULTISHOW Channel in Brazil. He also directed 3 theatre plays and was assistant for renowned directors in São Paulo.

In 2015 he was selected to the German Chancellor Fellowship for prospective leaders sponsored by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to research and develop a documentary Film Project about homophobia.

Currently, he is attending a Master of Arts in Documentary Film – Media and Visual Anthropology, at Freie Universität-Berlin holding a DAAD Scholarship for Foreigners artist and Filmmakers. His fiction short film Piscina (Pool) had the World Premiere at the Palm Springs Film Festival in 2016, have won 26 Awards and is running the film festival circuit around the world already, been selected for more than 70 Film Festivals.
